Scent and body language
When a dog displays ‘good’ behaviour, completely
according to the dogs’ standards and values, it
may belong. What is ‘good’ or ‘bad’ depends on
the social position (ranking position) that the
dog has in its pack. For a dog with a higher
position, from a dog’s point of view, other
behaviour is considered as ‘good’ as for a dog
with a lower position!
Each dog must behave according to the dogs’
standards and values and in a way that is in
accordance with the ranking position that the
dog has. (see;
standards and values). If, according to these standards
and values, the dog displays ‘bad’ behaviour,
then (at least for a while) it may not belong to
the group, the pack. As a social pack animal,
any dog would want to prevent this at all costs!
